DESIGN BRIEF
The BE house is located in a residential area of the Tigre district, in the province of Buenos Aires. This family\\’s wish was to be able to share the house with their friends and family. They were looking to live in a house that receives and “embraces” the guests who arrive but at the same time generates the privacy necessary for meeting and sharing. The house is divided according to its program (public, private and services) into different volumes that differ from each other due to their materiality. The volume of services is made of cement, harder and more closed, and faces to the west, protecting the house from the most difficult daylight hours and from the neighbor\\’s views. The most private volume contains the rooms and is made of wood, warmer. It is raised to free up the ground floor and at the same time seeking views and natural sunlight. Finally, the public and meeting space is composed of stone and glass. The contrast between these materials allows us to manage the relationship of this space with the street, the neighbors and the garden. The relationship and arrangement between these volumes is what generates the “embrace”, privacy and encounter. The heart of the house is the living-dining room. This is the place where the meeting between the family and their guests takes place. A large double height gives it hierarchy and allows the space to incorporate views and indirect lighting from the south at the top. A stone wall protects this space from views of the street and the neighbor on the ground floor. Finally, a large sliding opening integrates the gallery into the interior living-dining space, generating a single large shared space where the interior and exterior merge.
